Flexion Extruder Up And Running :-b

I just took my previous mod - the DSUB15 print head quick connector - to the next level :-) A Flexion Extruder, some stepper motor and fan combined with a simple housing printed from ABS on the Trinus ... a bit of tape here, some additional cuts there ... a piece of 0.3mm aluminium sheet metal under...

Re: Tired of fiddling with all these connectors ...

A need for more pins to connect some bells and whistles ... the most common problem with I/O circuitry design until finally USB was invented 8-) Yes: Trinus' print head uses common ground on both fans and the heater, so we're not short of pins - I calculated a maximum of 5 available. My LEDs on the ...

Re: Tired of fiddling with all these connectors ...

Yep, the connectors to the controller board are of the sort that guarantees some fun after a few disconnect/connect cycles. About schematics ... you don't need one, since it is both the male and female DSUB15 connector put in between. So you're totally free to choose your own scheme. But if you like...

Extruder Lever Replacement

Unfortunately, I got the extruder lever cracked ... which rendered my Trinus completely useless. No proper extrusion any more with this one: http://www.walther-mathieu.de/PICS/Trinus/PA200363_X.JPG So I had to make me a lever myself - the old fashioned way, though, not through 3D printing 8-) http:/...

Tired of fiddling with all these connectors ...

... since it is quite a PITA to frequently unplug / plug all the different connectors deep within the Trinus enclosure! So I punctured some of the sheetmetal, got me a standard DSUB15 (VGA) pair of jacks and did a little soldering: http://www.walther-mathieu.de/PICS/Trinus/PA220366_X.JPG http://www....

Re: Printer stops during every print

Besides bad electric contacts or insufficient power supply there are at least two other things that caused an interrupted extrusion for me: First one: Simplify3D and the "cold extrusion prevented" phenomenon - solved by a firmware update (newer, but not newest) and a new fff profile. The s...

Re: extruder/heat block loose

try 200°-220°C ... if the nozzle comes free from the thread and still needs a lot of torque there is a risk of ductile fracture.
If tolerances were not that tight here molten plastic would ooze into the space between nozzle and hotend hose tip,
